Time Management

Hey, I am sitting here at 12pm in the midnight and thinking what topic to blog about, well being in the field of HR, I feel one of the important thing is Time Management, I have been seeing daily that time management is lacking in many professionals, everybody has 24 hours, but delivering the task is not on time, customer requirements are not met on time, and they are unhappy about the service, its not only about late coming, its about delievering the right service on right time.

One thing I have learnt in my MBA class is the concept of "Under Promise & Over Delivery" I suggest many of the professionals to use this concept to meet their targets. Promise the customer a task will be done within 48 hours, but you deliever the same within 24 hours or 36 hours, who will not be happy about that. Say for eg, you go and book a Car in a showroom & he says it will take minimum of 2 months and you will pay an advance amount & suddenly he calls after a week & says your car is ready. I hope you can connect the topic Time management for this eg.

Let me give some basic tips for TM, which you can use in your daily life.

Carry a daily calendar/planner

Make a “to do” list each evening before bed or first thing in the morning or before you leave the office for the day.

Prioritize! Arrange your list in order from most important to least important for that day

Use your time wisely. Complete the any small tasks whenever you have a few minutes free

Set deadlines for tasks

Make goals for yourself and review them daily

If you are a person who uses outlook, make utilise of the calendar, followup, events and alarm.

I think you can add another 5 to 10 points for TM. Let me add more points on the same sometime later.
